Lineage statement SPI values are calculated based on gridded unvalidated (realtime) and validated (historical) manual precipitation measurements.
Purpose Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) is a statistical indicator for monitoring of precipitation. It compares the total precipitation received at a particular location during a specific time period, with the long-term rainfall distribution for the same period of time at that location. SPI results are given in units of standard deviation from the long-term mean.
